About Me

Hello! I’m Kimberly Jaramillo, and I am excited to announce my candidacy for the Southern Lehigh School Board. As a dedicated parent of two Southern Lehigh students, I am deeply committed to the success and well-being of our children and our community. My husband and I chose to raise our family in this vibrant district because of its strong reputation for educational excellence, community values, and opportunities for growth.

Why I’m Running

I am running for the Southern Lehigh School Board because I believe that every child deserves a high-quality education in a safe, nurturing, and supportive environment. As a parent, I understand the challenges and concerns families face in today’s educational landscape. I want to ensure that our schools continue to inspire a love for learning while preparing our children for the future.

My Background and Experience

Professionally, I am a physician, and my career has equipped me with the skills of problem-solving, critical thinking, and compassionate decision-making. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to practice as a pathologist around the world, from rural Cameroon to urban Cambodia, New York City, and Philadelphia, and I have met and served people from every walk of life. My experience in the medical field--both in practice and as an adjunct professor at a medical school--has taught me the importance of listening attentively, understanding diverse perspectives, and collaborating with others to find effective solutions--all qualities I will bring to the school board.

As a parent, I am actively and enthusiastically involved in my children’s education and am committed to supporting their growth, both academically and emotionally. I am an active member of the PTA, regularly volunteering for or organizing festivals, fundraisers, and events. I see firsthand the impact our schools have on our children’s development, and I am passionate about advocating for policies that prioritize ALL children's well-being and academic success.

My Vision for Southern Lehigh School District

If elected, my priorities will include:

• Educational Excellence: Ensuring that all students have access to high-quality education, innovative learning opportunities, and the resources they need to succeed.

• Student Well-Being and Safety: Promoting a safe and supportive environment for all students. Mental health resources and anti-bullying initiatives will be at the forefront of my agenda.

• Community Engagement and Transparency: Fostering open communication and collaboration with parents, teachers, and community members. I believe in transparent decision-making and want to make sure every voice is heard.

• Fiscal Responsibility: Making sure our tax dollars are used efficiently to provide the best educational experience for our children while being mindful of the community’s financial needs.
